The Confetti Teacher: Poetry, Prose and Drama on Teachers Pay Teachers

During my last year of teaching Fourth grade, a coworker inspired me to sell items on Teachers Pay Teachers. Of course I had bought several items from TPT (I don't know what I would have done without it!), but I had never sold an item and didn't think that simple little me could make money doing that. Needless to say, I started to make a few things and sure enough the items started to sell! It became an addiction. Although I am not a top seller or don't make TONS of money each month, Teachers Pay Teachers has helped me to 1) have a creative outlet and 2) have an extra source of income each month. It really is a blessing to have a few items in my store.

That being said, below are my number one selling item(s) all revolving around the common core standard Reading Literature 4.5 which states:

"Explain major differences between poems, drama, and prose, and refer to the structural elements of poems (e.g., verse, rhythm, meter) and drama (e.g., casts of characters, settings, descriptions, dialogue, stage directions) when writing or speaking about a text."

In this first Poetry, Prose and Drama resource I use Shel Silverstein's poem titled Spaghetti and show my students the difference between the three types of literature by rewriting a Prose and Drama form of the poem. This is a fun and engaging way to involve students and to really illustrate the differences between the three!
